Arash’s scientific research mission is linked to water and wastewater treatment and public health within a sustainable circular economy. He’s focused on the application of scientific and engineering innovation for the provision of essential services such as water, sanitation, hygiene, energy food, and public healthcare.

Arash has several years of experience working with academics, government agencies, utilities and industry partners in Asia-Pacific, North America and the European Union to tackle strategic initiatives/challenges in environmental science and engineering, and water-energy nexus and nutrient recovery within circular hydrogen economy framework.

He’s has focused his research activities on the evolution of water and wastewater treatment, taking on the challenges brought about by climate change, with specific experience in how climate change and harmful algal blooms affect water treatment, removal of combined microbial/chemical contaminants and reuse opportunities. He’s also broadened his research focus to the use of microalgae for energy and food production. His goal is to translate fundamental scientific discoveries more quickly and efficiently into practice.
