Biography
Tanya's work examines how intercultural understanding, as enacted through education, can move beyond celebrations of cultural diversity to understand and improve the conditions that create particular relations, and tensions, between diverse cultural groups.
She worked on a project with a Monash University team for the Australian Department of Education to develop a toolkit that supports schools to promote global engagement through activities locally and abroad. Her research interests and teaching specialisations include: intercultural understanding; globalisation; language, culture and identity; social sustainability; and place-based education.
