Biography
Steve is co-director and senior information specialist at Cochrane Australia, where he’s responsible for the learning and education program. He has extensive experience in conducting systematic reviews for Cochrane, as well as a range of government agencies, including WHO and Australia’s NHMRC. His research interests include innovations to enhance the efficiency of study identification through automation, methods to support living systematic reviews and guidelines, and reporting of systematic reviews. He’s the information specialist with the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce and National Stroke Foundation guidelines, and a member of the PRISMA 2020 group.
Steve was a co-lead on Project Transform, a three-year flagship health evidence project funded by NHMRC and Cochrane, that developed machine classifiers to improve the efficiency of study identification. He’s currently evaluating the application of these new technologies to support living systematic reviews and living guidelines through a part-time PhD.
