Biography
Monica is the head of the Department of Software Systems and Cybersecurity, and Professor of Human Factors in Cybersecurity at Monash University. She’s a psychologist who researchers cybersecurity, and whose research over the past 20 years has focused on the ways individuals behave in cyberspace.
Her work, in particular, examines identities created in cyberspace, online security risks, as well as detecting and preventing cybercrimes (for example, mass-marketing fraud, insider threats). Her work has contributed to policy and the development of tools in the UK and Australia to improve cybersecurity behaviours, prevent and detect cyber fraud victimisation, insider attacks, and the spread of disinformation.
