Biography
Melodie is a biodiversity scientist in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University. Prior to joining Monash she held academic positions at Pretoria and Stellenbosch Universities in South Africa, and led the Cape Research Centre of South African National Parks. She partners in an international research collaboration working to improve biodiversity information for decision makers and the scientific community – the Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network. She also works closely with the IUCN’s Invasive Species Specialist Group and Australia’s Invasive Species Council to improve publicly accessible information on invasive species. Her research has advanced methods for measuring and monitoring biodiversity, and for tracking the spread and impact of invasive species.
