Mathew was tenured at the University of Colorado, Boulder before joining Monash as a Professor. His research focuses on behavioural decision theory explanations of strategy and entrepreneurship decisions and outcomes. He has published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Management Science and Strategic Management Journal and featured in the Economist, New York Times and Fortune magazine amongst other places. Mathew's teaching broadly covers strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, negotiations and organizational behaviour and he was recognized as a finalist for best teacher at London Business School and University of Colorado, Boulder. He has undertaken research and consulting work with Dell, Ericsson, Intel, Jababeka (Indonesia) and Pearson amongst other firms.
