Biography
Marika (Antonia) was Director of the Monash Asia Institute from 2000 to 2013, Foundation Director of the National Centre for South Asian Studies from 1993. She has a Ph.D. in economic history from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) and has published on long term economic development issues in Asia and Europe. She specialises in questions about mass poverty, socio-economic inequality, cultural heritage, regional and international development issues, and public health including family planning, HIV/AIDS, rural health and food security, and the intersection between health policies and community needs.
