Extinct marsupial megafauna
Biography
Hazel is a PhD candidate at Monash and Museums Victoria researching the functional morphology of Australia's extinct marsupial megafauna. She has 10 years' experience in comparative anatomy teaching and research, and an undergraduate degree in science communication from the University of Western Australia.
She's interested in what the structure and function of the musculoskeletal systems of living species can tell us about how extinct animals moved, fed and evolved. Her work blends traditional anatomical techniques such as dissection and comparative description with modern 3D approaches such as CT/MRI, biomechanics and morphometrics.
