Biography

Carlos is an expert on Cuban literature and society. He has taught Spanish in New Zealand, Australia and Ireland and his research in Spanish and Latin American literature has a special emphasis on Cuban literature (crime fiction and representation of black characters).

He is also interested in the socioeconomic conditions of Cuba after the collapse of the Soviet
Union, and pedagogy of Spanish as a Foreign Language.
