Biography
Adrian is a vision scientist and photographer. He’s interested in the comparative physiology of how different animals evolved their visual capabilities depending on the ecology of their environment, and the information that can be learnt to improve the design of new systems.
He received a PhD in 2000 for developing computational models of how bees use colour vision, and was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship to study bees in Germany. Then at Cambridge University (UK), he studied how bee interactions with plants may be influenced by climatic conditions, before being awarded an ARC QEII Fellowship at Monash University to research with computational models how bee pollination may be impacted by climate change.
He currently researches technology solutions derived from bees and the environment to improve digital solutions to complex problems.
