- Modification – You can’t edit our material, except to reflect relative changes in time, location and editorial style. If you do wish to make material edits, you will need to run them by the Editor of Lens for approval prior to publication.
- Attribution – You have to credit authors and their institutions, ideally in the byline.
- You have to credit Monash Lens and include a link back to the original source article URL. Our preference is a hyperlinked credit at the top of the article and that you include our logo (available below).
- Non-commercial – The licensor permits others to copy, distribute and transmit the work. In return, licensees may not use the work for commercial purposes — unless they get the licensor's permission.
- You have to confirm you are licensed to republish images in our articles. Some images, such as those from commercial providers, don’t allow their images to be republished without permission or payment. Copyright terms are generally listed in the image caption and attribution. You are welcome to omit our images or substitute with your own. Charts and interactive graphics follow the same rules.
- You can’t systematically republish all of our articles, nor frame the content of our site.

Without impeding academic freedom of speech, Lens reserves the right to refuse to publish any material that discriminates or denigrates on the basis of gender, race, religion, culture or sexual orientation. Lens is committed to upholding Monash University’s stated position on inclusion and diversity.
Lens adheres to existing Monash University policies around plagiarism, conflict of interest and the Monash University Intellectual Property Framework.
All work submitted for publication in Lens will be handled with a high level of editorial care and confidentiality. But Lens does not undertake its own peer-review and make no claim to do so.
All submissions will be published or otherwise at the discretion of Lens Editorial Committee, which reserves the right to edit or alter articles accepted for publication.
Lens will collect digital data about its users that will be used in accordance with the Monash University privacy collection statement.
