Yuan Yuan is a clinical epidemiologist in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, with more than 20 years’ experience in epidemiological research of musculoskeletal conditions and women’s health. She completed a PhD at Swinburne University of Technology in 2007, focusing on factors affecting knee cartilage and bone morphologies in individuals with and without clinical knee osteoarthritis.

Her work has contributed to better understanding of the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis that inform the preventive and therapeutic strategies for osteoarthritis. She’s led randomised controlled trials testing novel treatment for knee and hand osteoarthritis, and her research has also improved the understanding of the roles of sex hormones in women’s health.
