Biography
Shane teaches media studies and is director of research in the School of Media, Film and Journalism. He's renowned for his research in music policy, the cultural industries and cultural histories. Many of these projects have directly influenced industrial and government practice, including local cultural industry planning, music funding, music copyright and live music venue regulation in Australia.
He's the co-editor of the Popular Music History journal (Equinox), and is leading an Australian Research Council Discovery project, Interrogating the Music City, on the industrial and urban histories of Melbourne popular music.
