Biography
Dr. Patrick Butler joined Monash Business School as Professor of Marketing and Director of MBA Programs in July 2015.
He has been Associate Dean, Executive MBA Programs at Melbourne Business School and a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and at Ulster University, Northern Ireland. He was a Visiting Professor at Senshu University, Tokyo, and has taught and presented in Europe and USA. He has worked on marketing development projects with EU and UN organisations in Russia and Africa.
Patrick's research on marketing strategy, politics and management in the public sector has been published in international books and journals including Marketing Theory, European Journal of Marketing and Harvard International Journal of Press/Politics. He is co-author of Modernising Irish Government: The Politics of Administrative Reform (Gill and Macmillan, Dublin, 2007).
An experienced executive education teacher, Patrick has consulting, advisory and development experience in multiple sectors including government, banking, pharmaceuticals, technology and consumer goods in several countries. In Australia, he has worked with ANZ Banking Group, National Australia Bank, Siemens, PwC, Johnson and Johnson and Bristol Myers Squibb. Among the projects he leads are business planning, brand panels, market research, new product development and management development workshops.
