Biography
Before his Monash appointment, Nahum was a judge of the Family Court of Australia for 21 years and a Presidential Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for 6 years. His roles in the Family Court included Regional Coordinating Judge, membership of the Chief Justice’s Policy Advisory Committee and chair of the Cultural Diversity Committee.
As a consultant to the ALRC and the VLRC, he contributed to law reform in areas of matrimonial property, evidence and family violence. Throughout his career he has been engaged as a legal educator in areas of family law, ethics, advocacy and cultural diversity and led the judicial development programs to the Indonesian Religious Courts. He has authored and presented numerous papers at leading national and international conferences. Professor Mushin AM was the first Monash law graduate to be appointed as a judge.
