Biography

Marie is a criminologist whose work into human trafficking, migrant labour exploitation, women prisoners and policing challenges the assumptions that drive legislation and policy in Australia and internationally. Marie’s research focuses on the intersection of regulation, exploitation and vulnerability. Her goal is to raise awareness and to help create more effective policies that have better outcomes for individuals and for society in general. She is committed to research that brings together many stakeholders and that seeks to focus on the broad impact of policy and regulatory process.

She leads the Trafficking and Labour Exploitation research agenda at The Border Crossing Observatory, is a member of the Monash Gender and Family Violence team and is co-founder of the Imprisonment Observatory.
