Biography
Julia Vassilieva leads the Screen Histories and Cultures Research Program in the School of Media, Film and Journalism. She is a film historian and theorist, interested in how moving image is contributing to the formation of different forms of subjectivity. She has recently completed the project “Cinema and the Brain” supported by an ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award. She has published widely on film history, history of science, and psychology and neuroscience of the moving image.
