Heyi’s research focuses on international teacher migration and workforce integration, with particular attention to how policy frameworks shape the entry and experiences of overseas-trained teachers. Her work examines the intersection of migration policy, qualification recognition, and professional learning, exploring how these systems influence access to and participation in the teaching workforce, particularly in Australia.Drawing on professional experience as a secondary school English teacher across China, Tibet, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, Heyi brings a cross-cultural perspective to the study of global teacher mobility. She is particularly interested in the challenges migrant teachers face in navigating the accreditation process, including fragmented systems, language requirements, and limited institutional support. Her research aims to inform policy discussions on how international teacher migration can be more effectively harnessed to address workforce shortages, while also supporting more equitable and sustainable pathways for migrant teachers.
